It's a wrap!
WEFTEC.08 drew a record 21,950 attendees and 1,111 exhibitors to the
McCormick Place Convention Complex in Chicago from October
18 to 22, 2008. The technical program featured 115 technical sessions,
31 interactive workshops, 10 facility tours, the Operations Challenge, and several other special events.
Visit our
two-page Photo Diary featuring some of the new technologies
showcased and some familiar faces from WEFTEC.08.
In addition to visiting as many WEFTEC.08 booths as possible, the Water Online team also took the opportunity to meet with our readers — old and new — at our booth. We also held a giveaway for attendees and Web site entrants who registered to receive our newsletter. Congratulations to

a Garmin nüvi 760 GPS.
See you next year in Orlando! |

New Luminescent Technology Brings Faster, More Accurate CBOD Analysis By Bob Dabkowski, Wastewater Specialist, Hach Company |
| The city of Tyler, TX, has two wastewater treatment facilities that together serve upwards of 150,000 people. The smaller of the two plants, the Southside WWTP, is an activated sludge plant that uses mechanical aeration to achieve advanced secondary treatment. The nine MGD (million gallons per day) facility, with an average daily flow of more than five MGD, serves approximately 40%
of the city's service area. Carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand
(CBOD) testing at the Southside facility is one of the plant's most
critical measurements. The test had long been a
troublesome and time-consuming procedure due to
inefficiencies inherent with the dissolved oxygen (DO)
probes the facility had used over the years... |
