| Welcome
To The ACE09 Post-Show Review |
|
AWWA's
ACE09 drew
thousands of attendees and more than 500 exhibitors to
the San Diego Convention Center,
from June 14 to 17, 2009. The technical program featured more than
100 sessions and 10 workshops, while the Water
Taste Test, Top Ops, and Meter Madness events
brought fun and competition to the show floor.
In all, more than 11,000 water professionals,
manufacturers, and service providers were
connected at ACE09. Visit our three-page Photo Diary, featuring some of the new technologies and
familiar faces you may have missed.
In addition to visiting as many ACE09 booths as possible, the Water Online team also took the opportunity to meet with our readers at our
own booth. We also held a Blu-ray disc player giveaway for attendees who registered to receive our newsletter. Congratulations to
the winner, Chandrika Winston, a manager with Memphis Light, Gas & Water
in Memphis, TN.
See you next year in Chicago! |

Real-Time UV Dosimetry Ensures System Performance And Water Quality
By UV Sciences Inc.
|
| The requirements for water disinfection for almost every use of water today are becoming more stringent. There is also more pressure to demonstrate that any disinfection process used is providing adequate disinfection at all times and under all conditions.
UV Sciences Inc. has designed a UV Intensity Monitor
for its water treatment products that delivers continuous, real-time, UV intensity readings, not reference levels normalized to an arbitrary lamp run-time. Continuous intensity readings remove
the uncertainty and ambiguity that is typical with UV systems today. |

Analysis Of Composite
Non-Metallic Enclosures For Use By Water/Wastewater Electrical Engineers
By Jeff Seagle, President, Stahlin Non-Metallic Enclosures
|
| Many perceived roadblocks to the use of non-metallic electrical enclosures for water and wastewater applications result from the lack of knowledge as to effective uses of non-metallic materials and/or the comparative performance benefits of non-metallic enclosures versus metallic alternatives. Often, the perception is that composite non-metallics are inferior to metallic materials. In reality, the opposite is frequently true and the intent of this paper is to detail the reasons why. |
