Renowned Mixing Expert Dr. Richard K. Grenville Joins Philadelphia Mixing Solutions, Ltd

Grenville, renowned expert in the field of mixing, has joined its Research and Development staff. Dr. Grenville began his employment April 1, 2013 as Director of Mixing Technology and brings to the group over 25 years experience gained in both academic and industrial environments with research, sales and practical applications expertise. “The addition of Dr. Grenville to our existing research and development experts and top-notch engineers solidifies our company’s position as the thought-leaders and technology-drivers in the mixing world,” states Todd Hutchinson, Vice President of the Research & Development department. He continues, “Dr. Grenville’s insight into the field of mixing uniquely parallels with Philadelphia Mixing Solutions’ vision.” Dr. Grenville’s personal motivation is to integrate the academic and practical aspects of mixing to better understand the phenomena that govern the mixing processes and apply appropriate technologies to solve problems in existing processes or to design new ones that are cost-effective.

An active member of several key industry committees and associations such as the North American Mixing Forum (NAMF), Dr. Grenville will co-chair the upcoming NAMF Mixing Conference XXIV in June 2014 to be held at Lake George in upstate New York, USA. He also is a fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and a Chartered Engineer in the UK.

Holding a PhD from Cranfield Institute of Technology, UK and BSc (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham, UK, Dr. Grenville enjoys sharing his knowledge as an adjunct professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at both University of Delaware and Rowan University. Dr. Grenville develops courses on mixing for senior, graduate and continuing education students and serves as an advisor for senior design projects.

He has held several positions throughout his professional experience in key engineering activities such as project engineer, process engineer, and applications engineering, and most recently as consultant at DuPont Engineering, Wilmington, DE.

Dr. Grenville has co-authored a chapter on “Blending of Miscible Fluids” in the Handbook of Industrial Mixing as well as authoring numerous papers and articles within the mixing community.
