New Tank Helps Grain Valley, MO, Beat Drought, Meet Growth Needs

"The city was growing so fast we had to act," said Gary Hanson, director of public works for Grain Valley, Missouri. Located on the eastern edge of the Greater Kansas City area, the city has doubled in population — to 9,000 residents — in only three years.

Rapid growth was putting a strain on the existing water supply from its two tanks, both with 500,000-gallon capacities. Drought was also threatening the area, making timing even more critical.
